Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. Registration form must be submitted and payment must be received to confirm registration. There is a $40 non-refundable registration fee applicable to all registrants. All families are required to be a member of the VAD Dance Society ($10 Annual Membership Fee). Returned cheques are subject to a $35 Handling Fee. GST is applicable on all fees. PST is applicable on selected merchandise.

VAD Policies

The 2019/2020 school year for the Richmond location runs from September 8th 2019 – June 6th 2020. Students are required to commit to the full school year as all programs are progressive. Students registered at VAD are expected to remain in the program until June. Students will complete the year of training with a recital performance held at Gateway Theatre in June.

 

Withdrawals must be received in writing. There is a $40 Administration Fee on all withdrawal requests and student initiated transfers.

 

VAD reserves the right to determine the appropriate level of study for each student.

 

VAD reserves the right to cancel or combine classes due to insufficient enrolment.

VAD reserves the right to refuse admittance and services and to dismiss any student(s) and/or parent(s) at the teacher’s/director’s discretion.

 

To avoid conflict of interest, students are asked to consult the Directors and Instructor(s) for permission to attend any dance classes, workshops, auditions, contests/competitions or performance outside of VAD.

 

VAD, the directors, instructors, and/or the facility are not responsible for any lost or stolen personal property.

 

Additional costs such as costume fees, competition fees, exam fees etc. are the responsibility of the student

Full payment for the year: by cheque or credit card, or in 3 installments with 3 post-dated cheques.

 

Tuition fees paid in full: Cash, Interac, cheque or credit card accepted.

 

Tuition fees paid in 3 installments: Only postdated cheques accepted.

 

Tuition fees paid in 9 installments: Only by Pre-Authorized Debit (must submit a void cheque).

  6. As an integral part of the curriculum, students are required to participate in the Annual Year End Show. Students are required to purchase one costume per class/dance. A costume down payment is to be submitted at time of registration.

  8. VAD reserves the right to determine the appropriate level of study for each student. Instructors will be assessing students during the first two weeks of the school year and moving students to appropriate classes

Dress Code and Grooming

Hair is to be worn off the face and nape of the neck. Hair must be in classical style for ballet and a ponytail for all other disciplines. Absolutely no jewelry is to be worn in class.

Ballet/Chinese Dance

Pre Ballet – pink bodysuit, pink tights, ballet slippers, pink tutu

Kinder Ballet – pink bodysuit, pink tights, ballet slippers, pink voile skirt

Pre-Primary – pink bodysuit, pink tights, leather ballet slippers, pink voile skirt

Primary – pink tank bodysuit, pink tights, leather ballet slippers, pink wrap skirt

Grade 1 – VAD lavender sleeveless bodysuit, pink tights, leather ballet slippers, character skirt with pink and lavender ribbons, low-heel character shoes

Grade 2 – VAD lavender sleeveless bodysuit, pink tights, leather ballet slippers, character skirt/pink and lavender ribbons, low-heel character shoes

Grade 3 – VAD turquoise sleeveless bodysuit, pink tights, leather balled slippers, character skirt with blue ribbons, low-heel character shoes

Grade 4 – VAD indigo sleeveless bodysuit, pink tights, canvas split-sole ballet slippers, character skirt with blue ribbons, Cuban-heel character shoes

Grade 5/6 Prep – VAD indigo sweetheart bodysuit, pink tights, canvas split-sole ballet slippers, character skirt with blue ribbons, Cuban-heel character shoes

Grade 6 to 8 – maroon spaghetti strap bodysuit, pink tights, canvas split-sole ballet slippers, Cuban-heel character shoes, character skirt with maroon ribbons, pointe shoes (with instructor’s/director’s approval)

Intermediate Foundation to Advanced – black spaghetti strap bodysuit, pink tights, canvas split-sole ballet slippers, pointe shoes (with instructor’s/director’s approval), soft pointe shoes

For boys – white fitted t-shirt, black spandex pants or shorts, white ankle socks, white ballet slippers

Jazz/Lyrical
